AMDs Future AM4 socket?

ViruZ_HUN

Hello!

Found some new information about AMD which is maybe not true but it would be awsome if it were true!

http://www.tweaktown.com/news/32164/rumortt-amd-working-on-12-core-6ghz-am4-based-processor/index.html

http://www.eteknix.com/amd-phenom-iv-x12-170-baeca-25nm-cpu-leaked-has-12-cores-6-ghz-core-clock-and-am4-socket-compatbility/

It says that it will maybe be AM4 socket with a new 12 core desktop processor working on 6 ghz and will be called AMD phenom IV X12 170, the Chipset is expected to be 1090FX, The TDP seems to be too good to be real but what if AMD made a amazing thing and could lower their TDP?

So nobody knows if its true?, it most likly not, but hope its true, a 6 ghz CPU and a 12 core would be nice.

am4 maybe wont even exist, maybe FM2+ took its place..

This is only rumours, nothing is sure...

I'd really only be interested if they finally had comparable single-threaded performance to what Intel offers.

this was posted in August and its not true. They were actually referring to the now known opteron warsaw chips which are unfortunately server grade

I doubt it's real.

I dont know of anyone with a 25nm process. It is also reporting an HT link speed of 8000....

Although 12 cores with a lower TDP would be nice.

Its a bad rumor. These same rumors have been circling the net for years now. The only possible new FX we will see between now and 2015 is 16 core Piledriver server chips being migrated over to the desktop platform. Which again we aren't sure if Warsaw will make it to desktop (I don't think so). If it does it will use the existing AM3+ socket and 990FX chipset more than likely.

Never heard of a 25nm processor. Too good to be true for such a proces.
