Should i upgrade my computer or start with a new build? comments

I have both a Dell Optiplex 390, and a Lenovo Thinkcentre m78, the Dell isy current main computer, and the Lenovo is there for an etxtra monitor and web browser.

Dell:

CPU:

Intel core i3 2120

Ram:

8gb ddr3 (dual channel)

Gpu:

Nvidia GTX 1030

Psu:

EVGA 450w 80+

Lenovo:

Cpu:

AMD A6 5400B

Ram:

4gb ddr3

Gpu:

Integrated

Psu:

230v

I want to either upgrade the dell (CPU mainly) into a decent computer, able to play overwatch, CSGO Gary's Mod & portal at 1080p 60+ fps, then use the Lenovo as a NAS/media server or sell the lenovo, use the dell as a NAS then build a computer.

Used Ryzen prices are great right now, and they'll be better when Zen 2 comes out. Not a bad time for a rig swap.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I would probably buy new computer since newer parts ang generation can extend it's lifespan than the old one. I myself have an intel build but I would recommend going for Ryzen for the cpu but Nvidia for the GPU since they only eat a little of your PSU which you can save as well. Goodluck bud!

I'd swap in a new CPU and probably get a new PSU for the Dell and you should have something that can kinda run games. The GT 1030 isn't amazing but it can run games on low-medium 1080p, especially esports ones designed to be light

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

if you're looking for a quick fix you could try an i7 2600 or 3770 (not sure on the 3770 tho as that mobo might be proprietary) but in my opinion, and everyone else's, starting fresh would be better for the long run. if you can't fork out much cash, try looking into 4th gen intel stuff so you can still use your ddr3 but that'll save you for not much longer
