monitor or PC upgrade first?

Cupar19

my current system is:

i5 7400

ASRock h270m pro 4

2 x 8gb crucial 2133 memory

evga 80+ bronze 650watt psu

256gb samsung 2.5inch ssd

corsair carbide spec 01 case

Gigabyte gtx 1060 6gb

the planned upgrade is:

ryzen 2700x (probably a newer zen 2 cpu if i wait)

some motherboard (not sure which yet)

2 x 8gb crucial 2133 mdmory

silverstone 80+ gold 750 watt modular psu

480gb kingston m.2 ssd

masterbox mb520 case

Gigabyte gtx 1060 6gb

this upgrade will cost about £600 and the graphics card will most likely upgraded next year and then after all of that a 144hz monitor and triple monitor arm bought.

or do i first buy a 144hz monitor for about £200 then a triple monitor arm( this is a must when i buy the third monitor) for about £100 and delay the rest of the upgrades for 5-6 months

i would like to do at minimum the psu, case motherboard and cpu at the same time for the sake of easiness.

what are your guys opinions on which to do first and possibly any improvements that could be made for a similar price? I'm unsure yet of what monitor or triple monitor arm to get so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. i currently have 2 60hz 24inch 1080p aoc monitors

That high wattage of a PSU is mega-overkill unless you actually plan to run 2 x 2080 Ti's and do extreme overclocking.  Otherwise a quality PSU around 450-500 Watt (like a Corsair TX550) is more than plenty for your single video card.  (A link to the kind of PSU I suggest: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dDH48d/corsair-txm-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020133-na ).

You should grab a RX 580 and later on you can upgrade CPU.  Once you do this then you can opt to buy a new 144hz monitor.

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex
AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

I also say get the monitor now. Your system is still sufficient and should run at much higher fps than 60 for most games so you'll enjoy that 144hz.

The Ryzen 3rd gen update will be a much bigger deal than whatever developments we get in monitors over even the next year.

isnt that only a very minimal upgrade over the 1060 though, besides cpu bottlenecks are what im running into over gpu ones

I recently got my brother the ASUS MG248QR. Seems really solid. Should fit in your price range.

Sorry, I meant to say the 580 is the best bang for buck.  Overlcocking it will yield performance near a 590.  But honestly we need to know what resolution he plays at.  If 1080p then grab this monitor 27" 144hz 1080p

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

Sorry, go back and read again. I realized I had posted the wrong model. I have the correct 144hz model listed now rather than 75hz

Model is MG248QR

Eh, 85 quid vs 60 quid, but it's your money.

The difference in wattage is only useful if you plan to run extreme OC's with double video cards so otherwise you're not getting any more quality really, you can get really solid modular PSUs with quality warranties in that 60 quid range: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/dDH48d/corsair-txm-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020133-na .

Well you can play at 1080p and turn on all the AA methods in nv panel and things will look pretty crisp.  The sweet spot for gaming is 1440p tho and requires a 1070 at minimum  You will get dips but thats where freesync will kick in making it smooth wheter at 144fps or 80fps.

Do you like fine detail and crisp picture or do you just want better refresh rate on a big screen?
