Upgrade GPU or Monitor first

MajesticBear

Hello guys i was wonedring if i should upgrade my monitor first or gpu since i use a 60hz ips monitor and also a gtx 1050ti by asus. Was wanting to buy ACER PREDATOR XB252Q 24.5" GAMING MONITOR (240HZ, G-SYNC). To mentioned that i am only interested in playing in 1080p resolution and i play online game such Csgo, Fortnite, Apex Legends and on a rare occasion Dota 2. I feel like upgrading monitor first since its expensive and would not need to be upgraded any more. For gpu, feel like upgrading to rtx 2070 by Galax triple fan.

Here are my pc Spec:

Processor: Intel Core i5 Kabylake 7500 (3.4 Ghz)
Mobo: Asus Strix Z270E Gaming

GPU: Asus GTX 1050 ti 4gb
PSU: Cooler Master 750 Watt Semi-modular Bronze
RAM: Patriot Viper DDR4 16gb 3200mhz
SSD: Pioneer 120GB M.2
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Cooling System: ID-Cooling Auraflow 240 RGB
Case: Nzxt S340 Elite
Others: Nzxt Hue+ + 2 AER 120

Feel free to share your thoughts and maybe drop some suggestions on any upgrades i should on my pc except for monitor and gpu.!!!!

no reason to buy a g sync monitor man, pointless to do so. You can find nice 144hz monitors at 1080p for less than 200 and you can also buy an rx 580 for less than 200 as well so thats the way id do it

Hmm. i just feel like spending some money on a monitor which we rarely upgrade to the best that i could get. And was hoping to get rtx 2070 or better card just to explore some triple A titles that i have been eyeing since i play these titles on a console. Might be exciting to try it out on pc. Im not the most richest guy. just looking out on cheaper 2070 cards . maybe galax or zotac

well i d say you should get the 1660 or 1660ti if you want more performance than rx 580 , the 580 can max out all games and maintain above 60fps on 1080p but to keep around 144hz at all times id get the 1660ti or used 1070

just get a equivelent Freesync monitor. they are as good, cheaper  and you can use it properly with a GPU from either of the main GPU manufacturers.

If i would to buy a freesync 144 or even 240 hertz monitor? would the absence of gsync would be that much of a difference. The only thing i know of g-sync is tearing prevention. Any other info regarding g-sync i should know of

you get Freesync. it does the exact same thing, except with the G-sync tax that is nolonger useful.

Nvidia reluctantly opened the use of Freesync on their GPUs. you arent missing out on anything, you are just saving money

240hz is a gimmick and your CPU will fail to to do 240fps on all those titles but CS:GO (depending on settings).
