Whats Wrong with my build

frankgore77

So just a quick thing my pc doesnt overheat or even get hot at all i made sure of that

My problem is the fact my pc stutters when i play most games. Most people have been saying since i have ryzen 7 1800x that ryzen relies on ram and ram speed okay so here are my specs and i just ORDERED TWO 8GB STICKS OF 3200mhz

So heres my question is it my gpu or is me getting the ram sticks gonna fix my issue.

Here are the specs

Ryzen 7 1800x

One 8gb 2400 mhz

One 4gb 2400 mhz

Gtx 1060 3gb

One 240gb SSD

One 120gb SSD

One 1tb Hard Drive

550 Watt Psu or 650 i cant remember prolly 650

B450 Pro mobo

IM RUNNING 1080P i feel like i should be able to pretty well with the gpu. if it is my gpu holding me back i would like to grab the 1660ti but suggestions would be great

Basically would like to know if its my ram or gpu thats causing the stuttering

You might be hitting VRAM limit with that 3GB 1060.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

When you have performance issues, the best thing to do is:

  • download monitoring software such as MSI afterburner
  • play games or do whatever task is giving you trouble
    • note down when issues occured
  • check your monitoring software for these stats at those times:
    • CPU/GPU clock speeds
    • CPU/GPU temps
    • CPU/GPU power limits
    • CPU/GPU usage
    • memory/GPU memory usage
  • If your clocks are lower than expected, temps are too high, power limits are being reached, or one component is at 100% usage and others aren't, you've found your issue

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

I’d assume it’s the 3GB of vram... I have 8 and most games happily eat it near all + extras haha

I believe this may have something to do with it. Single channel, low frequency, terrible for first gen Ryzen. Your new kit will do wonders.

I'm not so sure about the vram so we shall see once your new kit arrives, the RX 580 goes for a great price on eBay so you can get that if you must.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad
