Best setup to protect from virus/malware etc

Can anyone recommend a combination of products to protect a PC from virus/malware other threats both from websites and emails as comprehensively as possible? I don't mind spending a bit of money on something if it's worth it, as part of the package.

I would personally use Avast antivirus, It's free, it's upgraded plans do offer some benefits, but as long as you aren't going on super sketchy websites you should be fine.

Last time i used avast back in 2017 maybe? it made my PC crawl, and i tried multiple times over that year and the past years, ever since they changed their UI it has been terrible, but i'm not sure how it is right now.

If you're using Windows 10 then Windows Defender has been getting really good recently, but if you want more protection i recommend Bitdefender.

If it's worth it that's up to you

I haven't used an antivirus since 2014, I know what websites i should and shouldn't be on, and it's generally only used for gaming.

I just don't open emails or attachments from unknown senders.
