desoldering switches

So I desoldered my switches but I cant for the love of god remove them from the board. Any help?

cherry switches? they can be pretty stubborn.

 

they are mounted in such a way that they are forced into the PCB, so even without solder, you need quite some force to get them out of the board. on top of that sometimes some solder may still be left, which would mean you need even more force.

do you have any pictures of the board with the de-soldered switches?

Take a pic, it's hard to know what is preventing you from doing that without some visual aid.

those are cherry clones, so the same applies.

use some more elbow grease and they should pop out.

Have you desoldered all the LEDs on the switches too? Go over and make sure you've gone over all the solder points. Try carefully removing the PCB from the switches. I found it easier to push out the switches from below.

Double check if you have LEDs to desolder. I also recommend you purchase a switch remover/puller. It makes it very easy to remove switches from plate mounted keyboards.

Can you explain exactly how you desoldered them? If there is even a small amount solder left they can be very difficult to remove. Also if there is a plate they some switches clip into that. And as said make sure they're not held in by LEDs. Pictures of both sides of the PCB will help.
