Buying tools from amazon?

Should I buy measuring tools from amazon (i.e mitutoyo, brown & sharpe, starrett, fowler)

And hand tools (i.e knipex, wiha, channel lock and other name brands). I mean are these sellers legit?

suppose should I buy this? How can I trust the seller? (note. where I live right now only way to get these products is through online purchases from amazon)

If you're only saving like $30 I'd just buy from a better source. Also, if it's not shipped from Amazon and is instead shipped from a third party, I wouldn't bother.

As a former machinist if I am investing in mitutoyo  - I would make sure to spend the right amount of money ensuring I got what I was ordering. 

 

I order cheap shit from Aliexpress and third party sellers.

Other sellers can sell on amazon, if you don't trust amazon, you can buy from some other sellers through amazon. I've bought a lot of high end items through amazon and have never had an issue.

I am currently in an Asian country. Cheap chinesium crap everywhere. So should I buy those in person (I know crappy tools sometimes look legit, there's only so much you can do)? Or are there any good name brands? (I'm talking about milling tools and lathe tools) that I can buy from amazon or should I buy no brand name unknown stuff in person because there no name brands here? And one thing After searching on amazon one thing came clear that there is a lot of accusize stuff. I couldn't find anything legit about accusize. Like Deep within a forum one guy said it was bad and one other guy said it sorta does it's job. Do you guys know anything about accusize?

@Mr. Cucumber I just read some reviews on them - imho a lot of people abuse precision measuring equipment.  Ive seen guys destroy Mitutoyo's, Starrets etc within 10 minutes of issuing them (shop foreman) cause they were dumb and dropped them etc.  From what I read, just use them with careful in mind and I wouldn't mind saving a buck. 

 

My one question though - is this a hobby or professional endeavor.  If professional for money making...and you can afford it...invest in the better known brands.

More engaging hobby.. to be specific.... and yes I'm in Asia ... I know its hard to find (In India, China, Bangladesh, and other countries) decent tools in Asia (Excluding Taiwan and Japan) People here are cheap. So they and don't respect quality and precision that's why here importers are importing cheap chinesium crap. But what am I going to do? :( I don't have much of a choice.

If that was my situation, I would purchase a good set of gauge blocks to ensure my equipment was actual zero, and reading actual measurements - if they are they are good to go!  If they aren't, or are constantly losing zero with minimal to no shock..they are junk junk tools.
