Gtx 1080 vs ttx 2070?

Kirex0

I've found a few 1080's used from 370-400... Is it worth it or should I spend the extra 100 on a rtx 2070?

If you're going used 1080tis are around $500

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If you were going to spend $500 on the 2070 it's better to just get a 1080ti

Also what's your CPU, and monitor resolution/refresh rate?

If you want a  brand new gpu that provides that kind of performance and you're fine with the power consumption, consider vega 64. Performs in between those two for cheaper than the 2070.

Otherwise get the 1080 used, much better priced than that 2070. Also consider the 2060 new, that is slightly worse than the 1080 in games that prefer turing.

the 2070 is the worst value right now, either go with a 2060 (or a vega 56 with free games if u can find one for 350usd) or a 2080 if you buy new.

2070 is a stupid card that nobody should buy. If you want 1080 performance, go with a $350 2060. If you want better performance either go for a used 1080ti for around the price of a 2070 (which is 15-20% faster than 2070), or if you want a new card go straight to 2080. 2070 is stupid because it's like 10-15% faster than 2060 for like 35% more money. Even if you do the calculation for the entire PC, it sits around 20-25% more expensive as a PC. Dumb purchase. 10-15% more performance will rarely make the difference between "playable" and "unplayable", especially since there are settings you can turn down one notch to gain that much performance.

I vote for rtx2060. Bang for your buck it’s more worth it then the 2070 is. I’d either go 2060 or 2080 and make it actually worth the money
