You don't need a 3rd gpu to do passthrough, but it makes it better

What hardware do you have.

You can do that, but its a pain.

Do you just want 2 users on one pc at once? Id probably just install multipoint software so you don't have to setup vms at all.

i wanna use unraid for nas  and if i passthru the GTX 1060 for vm (1060 is in first slot so unraid picks it up for main gpu) the vm will not start with screen and if i passthru with the igpu it will not start with screen too :(

Why not just use windows as a nas? You can easily share storage on windows, make a software raid of mixed drive sizes and make vms with hypter-v

You can run multipoint on windows to allow for multiple users on one pc.

Can't you just get a second gpu? Gaming on the igpu is gonna be bad anways.

But passthrough will be a pain, your probalby better off just getting a second cheap pc.

Is the gpu on in the bios?

Try doing passthrough and see what you get. You should be able to disable the driver nouveau  if it doesn't work.

What happends if you passthrough that gpu? Do you need unraid? I find other distros give you more control.

Id try another linux distro personally, but unraid should work fine. You may need to really start digging into options, this is why I don't recommend passthrough for most uses.
