Gaming CPU Needed

I'm either getting an 8700k or a 7 2700x for gaming, and I want to know which one is better for 1080p.

8700k for gaming, but if you intend to get an RTX 2080 like your signature suggests then going for 1080p is pointless. Get a 1440p monitor or simply spend less on a GPU.

Go intel, that cpu should keep you where you want to be framerate wise. I went ryzen 7 1800x due to budget but if I would of had enough I would of went intel.

No worries. But an i7-8700k with an RTX 2080 will max out a 144Hz 1080p display, so switch monitors or like I suggest get an RTX 2060.

depending on how much you wanna spend 2060, 2080 are 2 good choices, skip the 2070. As for cpu, it doesn't matter for 95% of the games at 100hz whether you go intel or amd, i'd just get a 2600 and upgrade to zen 2 when it comes out.

Huh, when I type out "2060" or "RTX 2060" it doesn't pop up for some reason... but thanks man, my pc builds gonna be like 30% cheaper!

Alternatively, I would look at used GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti's if you are okay with a used GPU but this is the game performance of an RTX 2060:

It ran Crysis pretty well... might as well buy it lmao

But yeah, If I can find a cheap 1080/1080 Ti I'm going to try to go for that instead

Yeah the RTX 2060 is a pretty good card, but the ultimate would be a used 1080 or 1080 Ti if they can be found for a good price. Most are overpriced as a 1080 is pretty much the same as the 2070 and the 1080 Ti is basically a 2080 with respects to gaming performance. Since the new RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti cards cost so much people are trying to sell their used 1080 and 1080 Ti's for much more than they are worth so only get one if it is a genuinely good deal. That said with the launch of the 2060 and 1660 Ti it should bring prices down more in the used market. As a 2060 is essentially the same as a 1070 Ti when gaming.
