9900k temps with 240mm?

EV4000

I don't know anything about that cooler.  But if it performs the same as other good 240mm AIOs, it will be fine.

Yep its in the same tier as the top notch cpu coolers such as Kraken x52 and corsair H100i

i will not be overclocking my 9900k so will it run at cool temperatures?

Why buy a 9900K and not overclock it? I just don't see the point, you might aswell get a cheaper cpu and overclock it to gain similar results. if you're really worried about heat then a larger CLC or custom loop would see you right.

Agreed. Waste of money. Buy a locked 8700 instead.

it depends on the stock voltage of the motherboard, but assuming you run it at 4.7 1.3v (stock), you are looking at 75-80C full load, depending on ambient temps and airflow of course.

Yeah.. It's like buy a Lamborghini only for casual cruising around the road.. Who the hell want to waste money like that? Unless there's some unnecessary excess of money to throw away to get a prestige and bragging right out of that..

Using the 9900K without willing to overclock is a waste of money, and the willing to use a 240mm water cooler for it without overclocking is even bigger waste of money..

You supposed to use the i9 9900K like this, even more with a 240mm water cooler..

JayOnTwoCents has a great rule of thumb on water cooling and it's that you need 120mm(30mm width standard) per component and 240mm(per component) if you're going to overclock. That pretty much guarantees balanced temps assuming the AIO is a good quality one. About that overclock though the ONLY reason to buy a "k" is if you intend to overclock... Think of it like a house. You install (invest)  into the best heating/cooling elements but you're missing windows so you're really wasting it...?

Given my years spent overclocking, I recommend 360mm per item if you're really pushing those volts and then actually using the items while gaming. My room gets really hot after a few hours gaming, I doubt my shiz would stay cool if i had 2x240mm rads for what i'm trying to keep cool.

I feel like this is a bad analogy because there are lots of people who buy sports cars and don't race them. People under estimate the fun a car can be while not driving reckless or racing. And on top of that you already made the point people buy lambos, Ferrari, etc for the prestige computer parts aren't much different. There are people who want the bragging right of having the best parts on the market.

If your case can fit it, I highly recommend a 280mm radiator, even if you aren't going to OC (which, as others have said, if you're not going to overclock, don't get the 9900K, get a locked 8700 instead & save some money).  The 280mm will keep temps slightly lower or require less fan-speed to keep things happy which means a quieter system.

I haven't personally used the Castle-line of coolers, but they did well in what reviews I saw, they were on my shortlist for my "Stupid amounts of RGB" build, but I ended up going with Thermaltake instead because of their all around eco-system of RGB stuff that just works, and all talks to eachother, with pretty much universal compatibility (it connects to a USB header on the motherboard if nothing else, which almost every board made in the last 10 years has at least one of).  Don't know if that's why you're buying that one, for the RGB or what, but thought I'd throw that info out there.

Yes that's correct 240mm would be the limit to where you're getting in "acceptable" teretory... BUT you can't go wrong with a bigger one as you said... In the end a 240mm ain't promising ice cold tempretures!
