Threadripper 1950X

Go to solution Solved by eira,

Don't buy a Threadripper CPU for gaming, it's not worth the money. They're designed for workstations and core-hungry tasks like video editing, 3D modelling etc.

As it's a workstation platform, the motherboards are quite expensive as well.

Buy a 9700K or Ryzen 7 2700 instead, they would be much better options for gaming.

Hey guys I saw this at a shop brand new in box, ryzen threadripper 1950X 16 core 32thread huge cpu sgd$1008.00(usd$750.00++) I was wondering how does it do for gaming.

I bet it's gonna rip thru games eve better then the 2700x double the cores, I'm intrested should I buy it and try only one box left.

Games only use well enough 6 to 8 cores, so the best performance is at faster cores even if fewer that a whole bunch of slower ones, get an i7 9700k and all good.

The TR1950X is not compatible with your motherboard, you'd need a new a one.

No problem, I'm glad I could help. Also, I doubt you need to upgrade. 2600 is still a very good CPU.
