Best budget gaming monitor

Hi guys,

I'm almost finished with picking out parts for my first PC build. And one of the things left to choose is the monitor.

Any good 1080p gaming monitor with 144hz refresh rate at a good price? No TN panels if possible, I watched some of HardwareUnboxed videos and they explained that TN isn't great with viewing angles. Though it is the best at higher refresh rates.

VA panels would be great.

IPS would be better (Though I doubt there'd be any decent priced high refresh rate IPS monitors.)

That's just what I would like ideally since my family would probably use it to watch Anime, TV Series and Movies and such.

Looking forward to see what your recommendations are!

Thanks in advance.

1) You're not going to be playing games with your screen at a 90 degree angle from you so viewing angle is not something to take much consideration in. I have 2 TN panels and you can clearly see the screen even at 50 degree angles which is extreme for normal viewing.

2) VA is generally bad with ghosting.

3) 144hz IPS with low response time is expensive.

Viewsonic XG2401 or XG2402 are ideal for high refresh rate gaming with freesync. Go with whichever is the cheaper option.

The aoc g2590fx monitor is only $190 on amazon right now.

I bought one a month ago and it’s been great for gaming, no complaints with playing games on it.

The only 144hz ips freesync screen I’ve seen that’s affordable is the Asus VG279Q and it’s like $329 online.

I’m waiting on it to come back in stock so I can order that and return my aoc monitor.

No cpu mobo or ram atm

That makes sense. I just thought IPS would be best for watching content and playing games too.

The XG2402 looks much better than the XG2401 though it cost $37 more.

Yeah I will stay away from high refresh rate IPS monitors.

I like the G2590fx monitor you recommended but that red stripe at the bottom bezel of the monitor is... very unappealing to the eye.
