Which aio cooler should i buy?

I currently only have a core i5 8400 but I am planning on upgrading to something more powerful later on.  I wanted to get rid of the stock cooler and was thinking about buying a aio water cooler.  I was looking at these two: The Kraken M22 or the Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240R RGB.  I have done a bit of research on both and so far I have heard nothing negative about the nzxt cooler but hear the fans on most cooler master aios are quite noisy.  The only reason I was thinking about the cooler master cooler was because I just recently bought a cooler master h500 and wanted to sync the front fans with other fans inside the case which I cant do with the nzxt right.

Both suck, one is 120mm and performs like an EVO 212 and the other one has a low end pump.

Get a Corsair H100i V2 or a 110i GT, if you can't, get a midrange air cooler

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

much better, even though the failure rate is one of the higher ones among 280mm Asetek designs.

I currently have a core i5 8400 but am planning on upgrading to a core i7 in the next year or so.  I am wondering if the cooler master ml120r is worth it to replace my stock intel cooler.  The cooler is working ok i guess it usually keeps my cpu around 60 degrees but on games like ac odyssey when my cpu is at 100 percent it can get up to 70 or more degrees.

No need to get a crappy 120mm AIO liquid cooler. AIO liquid coolers are more unreliable and loud than air coolers, while costing more.

Get an air cooler instead, something like an Arctic Freezer 33 eSports ONE or a Dark Rock 4 (but make sure the CPU cooler you buy fits in your case).

as long as it doesnt go past 80C it's more than fine. Noise level is another potential problem.

ML120R is definitely not what I would replace it with. AIOs come with noise and reliability disadvantages compared to air coolers.

AIO also have advantages too, it's not one sided with air coolers being the better choice, speaking from experience.

But, saying that, for your particular needs, the cooler is doing it's job, what you should do though is try adjusting the fan curve to get it a bit quieter if you can without sacrificing too much cooling. If your main problem is noise, that's what I would suggest, as your temps aren't bad at all... and if you do need to get a new cooler, either go with a big air cooler like the Dark rock 4, or get an AIO like a ML240 lite, that isn't expensive and has a fair amount of cooling... that's what Ia m currently using in my main build and it's quiet and keeps my OC'd CPU very cool considering. I am no longer a fan of big coolers, coming from a Noctua NH-D15 former user... they are just too big and get in the way, they are fine if you only put the cooler on and forget it, but if you need to make adjustments/change things occasionally, like me, then I prefer having room to work inside the case.

It can depend if you like the look of the air cooler.  If this build if more for aesthetics, then a liquid cooler would look more sleek.  The 8400 is up to you, s oimo, I would just get an aftermarket air cooler.

6 months and you end up with a dead pump, not to mention the price

NZXT is like the Apple of PC components you know Costs more, does less. It's only popular because all of the RGB crap, they sure knew how to take advantage of blind users tho...

unlike apple nzxt have a strong return policy and offer repairs even if user errors that don't break the bank. I've sent them pumps that i got 3rd party such as eBay and all they wanted proof of purchase. not from an authorized dealer but any receipt. they support their products no matter where you get them from. i cant say that about most companies in any industry. the usual case you will get "oh that's not an approved seller" no support.

you can say what you will on performance or how crap they are but they backup their product line.

There is no enemy. The foe on the battlefield is merely the manifestation of that which we must overcome. The doubt, and fear, and despair. Every battle is fought within. Conquer the battlefield that lies inside you, and the enemy disappears like the illusion it is.
