USB External Sound Card

Go to solution Solved by mr moose,

I guess you could try something like this, but I have no idea how it will sound.  I have one of those dongles you are talking about, It is cheap and the sound is fairly average. but I use it for a mame cabinet which is perfect.

I'm looking for a mediocre quality external sound card.

  • It doesn't have to have headphone amplification
  • It does not have to be audiophile grade
  • It must be obtainable in the UK
  • It must be cheap (£20 approx)
  • It must be a USB one
  • It must not be one of those plug in ones that look like this:

Are there any on the market right now?

Compatible with Windows 95

I know of the Xonar U3.

Bit out of budget, but nice deal nonetheless! I think Linus did a video on it once.

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

If you wanted to spend a bit more, you could maybe get a Fiio E10 but I'm not sure how much they go for in the UK, in AUS you can pick one up for $75 so they are probably around 50 pounds.

Xonar U3 might be the best out of all the bad solutions close to that price. I don't know of anything cheaper than that other than one of those bad syba ones. I tried the U3 and then returned it for a Fiio E10 because it just had so much static. The noise floor was pretty high and extremely noticeable.
