Bottle Necking

JamesGM_11

Hi Everyone!

I am planning to buy RTX2070 but my question is, does this GPU bottle necks intel core i7-4790(none k) 3.6 GHz 4th generation. Does this two main parts bottle necks each or it is still okay.

Your responses are highly appreciated.

Thank you guys!

your cpu is completely ok for 60hz gaming and with that gpu you can run games at 4k or 1440p

It depends on what resolutions you're playing. If you're playing 1440p its fine, 1080p will be fine depending on what games you play.

I run a gtx 1070 with a 4790k and its perectly fine.
And many will tell you that the cpu is a bottleneck, but it very much is not.
People on the forum tend to greately exagerate a lot of things.

You might have some small bottleneck but I doubt it will be much of a thing.

That said, it depends on what you plan on playing.
BF5 4k with RTX on will demand much more than high settings, RTX off, 1080p.

I don't think it will be much of an issue.
And regardless, you'll have the card and if it is, you can always switch for another platform down the line.

Also do consider the cost of a whole system upgrade to get rid of a bottleneck that you may not even have noticed.

There is no rule that says you have to eliminate bottle necks, there will always be one in your system, the real test is ALWAYS "Do you get the FPS you need in the game you play at the resolution you play at".

i use a gtx 1070ti with a 4790 and it works great in nearly all games, with only a slight bottleneck in csgo which is a cpu based game

Have a nice day:)

depends on the resolution and target frame rate, assuming you are playing on 60hz, i'd go with a 2060 for 1440p to save some money with that cpu. As for cpu bottlenecking, you are likely to run into problems with newer AAA titles like bfv, bo4, and most of the ubisoft titles, for esport games and lighter titles a 4790 should be fine.

For 4k/60, you'll have to turn settings down with a 2070.

If you don’t mind capping frames it can work just fine. Wouldn’t be ideal for much more than that.

If your target is 60 FPS, no bottleneck.  If uncap, yes it will bottleneck but depend on which game.

For 4k/60, you'll have to turn settings down with a 2070.

If he is playing at 1440p he will see about 10-15% bottleneck in BFV though in BO4 he will only have about 0-5% bottleneck with high settings and his FPS will be somewhere between 120-150 depending on which map. I know this since I got an RTX 2070 paired with an i5-4690K (overclocked at 4.7 GHz).

But which games are you going to play James?
