For just about anything that you can overclock this is "generally" true.

 

There are exceptions, but generally, you've got the right idea.

it's a pretty late one... like a couple months before rtx

That's nice, during the early pascal production runs I know that micron was putting out some pretty bad memory. I saw 1070 owners only getting +200 in some cases, I'm glad my 1070 ti can oc well on the memory, especially since the 1070 ti is mostly limited by the gddr5.

If I were a betting man, then I would wager that your 1060 uses samsung memory since I usually see that reaching higher clocks than micron stuff.

yeah... I've seen that hynix and micron performs less, but i wouldn't expect Samsung in a base model personally, so I'm fine

 

it crashes at 700, so no room there
