even if you have a board and ram i'd just get a r5 2600 for that price, or one of these for the lazy

sure if you have older hardware and only want to upgrade the CPU instead of the whole motherboard. Quadcore is still fine for gaming.

 

I would, however, buy it used as CPUs basically never break or show their age.

Ehhhh it depends if it was OCed a lot with high voltages. I thought the same thing too but my 6800K has degraded pretty heavily from 1.34v used to get 4.4ghz now can barely get 4.2ghz

if you already have a motherboard that works with it, then if you can find the i5 4690K for less than 80$ then that would be fine.

I do but it'll be pointless to get a 2600 when I'm saving up to get amd's 16core anniversary cpu in june
