Open task manager and check

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Then yes, a bottleneck is occurring. Overclock perhaps?

cpu is sure the bottleneck here (assume everything else is fine and you have enough ram)

how much are you willing to spend upgrading cpu for these games? and what will you do with old cpu?

pair a r5 2600 should hold up well or wait for zen2 for more perf gain

Just curious, why did you buy a 2400G and a 2070? Surely if you can afford a 2070 you could also afford a 2600 or i5.

As long as you overclock and have good memory supporting that 2400g then you shouldn't have too many problems with cpu bottlenecks, there will still be a bit of bottlenecking in highly cpu intensive games, but it shouldn't be much of a hindrance.

If its overclocked then you should be fine, however a faster CPU would yield more frames by the gpu to drive and what not.

What motherboard do you have?
Also, why would you buy an APU with good integrated graphics that's sole purpose is to be used mainly without a dedicated GPU and pair it with an RTX 2070?

The bottleneck shouldn't be that bad if you OC'd the CPU because it's still a hyperthreaded quad-core, however it would be a lot better if you had a 6-core or an 8-core Ryzen chip.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

Did you buy the the RTX 2070 much much later after you build and use it with just the APU? Or you built it all at once? Because if not it doesn't quite make sense to me.

  • 3 months later...

I have a Ryzen 5 2400g and also a MSI 2070 gpu and I notice a huge bottleneck mostly when playing games such as Battlefield V and Rust. When playing games, Ryzen is not the best choice as I am aware, but I think I am safe to say that anything in the range of a 2070 gpu is too much for the CPU to handle unless you do a bit of overclocking.
