DIY TV project - help needed with OS and best parts to use

Hey Techies!

 

I have this crazy idea in my head for a while... make my own DIY TV from scratch.

The thing is, I have not the kind of technical background to know what to use for this on the OS and parts side.

 

Therefore I call your help to guide me a bit through this exploring stage I'm in right now.

 

I really hope someone has experience is something like this or got some tips.
