bought a used gtx 1070 Fe , dont know if its been OC'd

so i bought a used 1070 FE for my first build  and i did not ask the person if they over clocked it before , and i am new to pc building so i just wanted to know how i could check to get that info.

You can't, but unless it was used for mining or OC'd very high there shouldn't be any issues.

This is the same thing as asking whether you can know whether or not a person only used "premium gasoline" in their car.

 

There is no way knowing until something breaks earlier than expected.

Overclock it yourself, if it overclocks well then it most likely was overclocked. If it overclocks like garbage then that's probably one of the reasons they sold it

Yea I don’t think I should be getting into that having the fact I’m a first time pc builder , I barely got the thing put together  also there hasn’t been any irregularities so I’d say the card is running fine .

GPUs tend to do better than CPUs in terms of overclocking.

By which I mean, GPUs won't degrade as fast as CPUs from overclocking.

 

Overclocked or not, it won't make a difference since the 1070 is a recent card.

Even if it had been mined on, ex-mining cards make fantastic gaming cards anyway.

Doesn’t matter if it was overclocked or not. Just assume either one and move on with your day.

Don't sweat it, Pascal cards are locked down pretty tight. in order to push it to unsafe level then it all requires a hardware mod and that's a lot more work than most are willing to put in.

 

Everyone else here can correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no way to bios flash Pascal cards. At least not yet.

I haven’t figured it out. But it appears possible as both jay and tech Jesus have done it with help from debaurer I believe. 

During thier oc’ing battles with the 1080ti’s.
