Input signal not found Check the video cable and video source

I just finished building my first PC and everything appears to be working fine except for one problem; the monitor keeps telling me to check the video cable or the video source. Everything appears to be working just fine. The mother board's LEDs are lighting up, no weird audio sounds, the graphics card fans are spinning, etc. This is a list of all the parts for my rig.

 

9th Gen Core i5-9600K

V-NAND SSD 970 EVO

Intel Motherboard MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC w/ RGB Mystic Lighting

Ventus Graphics Card Geforce RTX 2080 OC edition

Toughpower Grand RGB 750W

Gamdias Chione M1A 240R CPU Liquid Cooler

 

I'm terrified that I might have to go to Frys and exchange everything or that they wont offer any exchanges and I just ended up blowing $2000. Please somebody help. If it helps I had an accident earlier where I added too much thermal paste to my CPU. I removed the liquid coller and wiped off the CPU with an alcohol wipe like the Linus Tech  Tips youtube video said. No thermal paste got onto the mother board or the bottome of the CPU or on the face of where the CPU goes. I'm on the verge of shitting out my heart. Please guys I have no idea what I did wrong or what to do. I already took it all apart once and reinstalled it. I'm losing it.

I'm also using a 1080p LED monitor and it does not support 4k. I'm not sure if this might be the problem but I find it highly unlikely.

um, what is the monitor plugged into @Existential_NM from the pic it appears to be the Mobo?

Yes it is the mother board. My little brother told me that's where I plug it into. The HDMI on the motherboard slot not the graphics card.

you need to plug into the graphics card... as that is what is the video output. also, does the monitor have a displayport? if you have a high refresh monitor, try to use that.

If you plug it to the graphics it will turn on , motherboard hdmi (igpu) is meant to work only (by default) when there's no graphic installed. The more you know!

i mean, if op had a 1080p monitor to start, i guess its a fair upgrade from whatever they may have had. but you are right, and in that case, they will NEED the displayport.

Don't worry bros I will be buying one next paycheck! You guys are awesome I appreciate the help!!!!! It works and I just tugged on my nut sack in  a fit of rage for trusting my brother. My dad had told him no to plug it into the GPU because it would fry it. Never trusting him again. How do I get the default to work then?

motherboard gpu are meant only for computers without gpu , Its safe to use your graphic card to work or to do anything , that graphic card wont heat till you game (you will see fans at 0rpm till you open a game)
