so my doods i wanna ask if it is gonna be worth upgrading from the ryzen 5 1600 to the ryzen 5 3600 if it releases and plan to scrap my b350 too and buy either a b550 or the x570 what you think

You wouldn't need to scrap your mobo, with a BIOS update it'll work with Ryzen 3000.

It's likely going to be quite a performance jump, if epyc is anything to go by, and don't bother replacing the motherboard, it kinda defeats the purpose of the AM4 socket longevity.

Why? X variants and regular ones are both equally overclockable. Even on a B-series mobo.

In general the b350s have terrible VRMs aside from MSI's 4+2 controller with 4x2 power phase boards, which are discontinued from what I can tell.(nobody has msi b350 gaming pro carbon in stock) and the tomohawk is the middle ground for budget/overclock ability with good VRMs for less thermal throttling.

B350 has the same VRMs as B450.

it depends on the manafacturer i think i read some where that it varies from each manafacturer MSI makes one of the best for Overclocking

Now they do, they never used too. Especially for the b360 micro atx vrms....god those things were awful. MSI really stepped it up with the b450 series of motherboards both the tomahawk and the mAtx Mortrar

Don't make a blanket statement like "B350 has trash VRMs" without doing your research.

Also who says I know more than overclockers? I was just stating the facts that you posted with the chart. It specifically says that the gaming k4 is on the lower spectrum....lol

Anyways before the salty penguin started taking things personally, lets get back to the convo.

 

I think the 3000's will be a significant performance boost over the cpu you have now. Others in this post have stated that as well. You could get away with an x470 right now. You could use an x470 with a 3000's with a bios update of course.

 

nobody knows for sure tho
