Leaving the budget aside, can you give me some food for thought between TN and IPS panels? Im not familiar with the prices on the market

IPS panels have better viewing angles, and generally better colors. I wouldn't get anything but an IPS, or perhaps a really good VA panel. Monitors generally last several builds, so they're worth investing some money into.

unless you are planning on playing espots titles 1440p144 will not be a thing. I am turning down settings left and right with a GTX 1080 which is much faster. I'd consider a GPU before such an expensive monitor if targetting general gaming.

I see that VA panels have considerably higher contrast, is this comfortable in gaming, how's their colors compared to the other 2 panels? I will do some more digging into them, they look pretty good, iv only heard negatives from them from a few people though i dont really understand why..

I understand and i agree! But i feel like it would be silly from my part to invest money on a decent monitor aiming specifically rx 580 and not taking consideration the fact that i might upgrade my gpu in 1-2 years. Especially with navi coming out in the not so long future..

IPS is better, TN is worse.

You're looking at 27" monitors. 29" 21:9 monitors aren't much wider.

go for IPS and dont look back, if youre worrying about backlight bleed or IPS glow then dont, Im using a cheap AOC one (22V2H) and I see 0 backlight bleed, its really only in 1 corner and its only noticeable if I set the brightness to 100%, have no lights in the room, and the screen is totally black

Personaly i would go for a fast VA panel. By fast i mean, one with a testest fast pixel response.

IPS glow is bleh, and TN color and contrast is terrible.

Aye ofc , but all LCD's have ghosting to some degree, whether you notice it or not is down to the individual and what they are 'used' to.

I for example can notice ghosting in dark scenes even in fast TN panels, becouse im used to CRT and Plasma. Not that ghosting is the worst probelm fast panels have, usualy the faster the pixel resposne of the panel (regarldes of type) the worse the image is in regards to other aspects, such as color, contrast, black levels, backlight bleed, viewing angles etc. Even uniformity is usualy a bigger concern than the level of ghosting, though i cant stand ghosting either.

A 'fast' VA can have an actual 100% transition response of 10ms, while a IPS can have 8ms, and a TN 4ms.

but slow TN's and IPS panels can be slower than the fastest VA's.

Long story short, all LCD's have some kind of terrible issue, be it VA's bad viewing angles and relativly slow pixel response, TN's terrible color and contrast, or IPS's glow...among others.
