How to gain traction

Mad153

Hi,

I have made some software that i put on the internet for free, under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.

But no one really knows about it.

What is the best way to get people to know about it / advertise?

Thanks.

Promote it in suitable areas, such as forums or subreddits for that kind of software. Without promotion it will be hard to get any traction on accident.

Talk about it to people. Explain why it should be better than other solutions that are similar.

Yeah, the best way to spread the word is talk about it (appropriately) in places you think would use it. It'd also be a good idea to highlight features like ease of use or performance, otherwise people won't really care if they're using something similar already.

Then publish on GitHub, you can put tags to help the discovery by others.

Also share on forums, Twitter, etc...
