The logic of mining versions of cards

Compared to a typical gaming card, mining cards have worse VRMs, much shorter warranty (if at all) and less ports, but usually Samsung GDDR5/X because they mine better by overclocking further. I want to specifically ask about the ports here. Are they that expensive to put more ports on them? If so, why not use a modern ports like HDMI or DP, instead of DVI?

I don't know about the cost, but I see it many times on oem and budget cards. so I assume they do add a cost somewhere

A penny saved is a penny earned.The manufacturer probably has a crap ton of dvi connectors laying around, and they were probably purchased at a price when DVI connectors were cheaper than HDMI or DP.

Isn't HDMI still subjected to royalties?
