Ryzen. Good budget VR system I can throw away when the 3000 series is out. Thx

Hi,

I'm coming from the Mac world and doing a DIY. I have a rtx 2080ti fe. I was going to go intel 'til I heard ryzen 3000 is coming out. So,please, I would greatly appreciate help building a sub 300$ cpu/compatible motherboard. Also I know ram speed is a factor in ryzen cpu performance so suggestions there too pls. When I buy the 3000 ryzen, I'll sell or give away this temporary solution.

I also have a seasonic 850 platinum psu

A 500gb m.2 sad

And the 2080ti fe

And nzxt h700i case

I REALLY need help (I mean with this computer advice:))

Thx friends

I'm excited about becoming part of this community. Cheers!

ryzen 5 2600x (or non X, X has higher stock clock speeds)+msi b450 tomahawk+vengance lpx 3000 (or more than 3000mhz for when you get ryzen 3k)

The mobo and cpu should be $260-$310 usd and then with the ram it should be $400+

@Jurrunio was talking about how zen 2 will probably need beefier motherboards so I'm not sure how this would work out for zen 2. can the 200GE even do VR?

Just buy an R5 2600 + ASrock Pro 4 or MSI Tomahawk

That would be horrible for VR and X570 boards are likely desirable for Ryzen 3000, if nothing else than for the updated bios

It'll be compatible for sure, but obviously don't throw the 16 core CPU on a cheap motherboard, and the older boards will need a bios update to work out of the box, so a newer board just save any headache and may have newer features.

that's why I chose the heaviest mobo that exists today. 12 phase power design.

but you were right about that it can't do vr. didn't think about that one. I would say  b450 pro4 (atx) with a 1600 or 2600 will do

The R7 1700 was $150 during black friday

not even 2 years ago intel was charging $1000 for 8 cores

Thx VERY much. Helps a lot that thatcmotherboard will robustly support the 3000's coming up so all I need to sell or give away is cpu.

Well if the motherboard is the right socket type and it supports it, it'll work well as long as you're not overclocking.

You would have to update your bios before getting rid of the old CPU, but the newer motherboards are likely to have extra features, so you'll probably want one anyways.

But hopefully by that time intel will realize their place and the 9900 will be affordable. I am sending my maximus and 9700k back to amazon

damn you really got the maximus xi hero? F

I don't think Intel will ever have as good of value as the 2600 unless they decide to just make an i5 $200 or less

So is that msg motherboard on Amazon for 89.00 more than good enough without being a bottleneck for Andy of my components or software? I suppose I don't mind updating the bios as a one time thing.

I would say that going with a high quality board from the start will help cascade whatever you choose from the zen 2 lineup. If the leaks turn out to be true then you won't be able to use one of the 16 core chips with this board, but I figure 12 cores at high frequency is plenty.

imo I would say no 300 series msi boards. I would rather get the b450 version or the pro4 from asrock as cheap temporary boards. The taichi ultimate is the best board you can get on x470 rn, but that one is 250 dollars. tho the fatal1ty is really good too, and only 115 after rebate
