I'd say wait for benchmarks, can't hurt to start saving just in case.

Is a gtx 1070 and an i7 4790k still a good combo late 2018? I’ve seen some leaks and specs on the new ryzen chips and was asking myself if I should upgrade or keep using this system, any thoughts or opinions would be great

yes its still good, i use my I7 4790K with a GTX 1080 and its still great

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

So you don’t think there would be a point in upgrading to the new ryzen CPUs?

def still a great combo if you have those then upgrading wont see that much of a difference in gaming. Overclocking a bit will also close that gap a bit more.

not the current ones, the 3000 chips maybe? but thats only if you have use for the cores

Well, with some overclocks even a 1080 ti shouldn't be a problem on it
