New AMD Rig

Mind_001

I'm getting sick and tired of the way Intel is going. Just watch some of Linus's videos about Intel.

So, I want to go the way of AMD.

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming AM4: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119099

AMD Ryzen 5 2600: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113496

G.Skill TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (4x8GB) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232717

ThermalTake Core P3 TG Red: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8EF7N23757

ThermalTake Floe AIO Riling RGB 360:  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA98C8BK9809

Thermaltake  Touchpower Grand RGB 850W https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153311

That comes out to $1300, give or take a few $100 off sales. As I plan to build this overtime. Not buy it all in one blow.

NOW, I am perfectly comfortable with my 750Ti. It's still kickin'. If I EVER need to upgrade that, I'd go with a 1050Ti.

I have already bought a Samsung 970 EVO 512GB M.2 SSD. So this will go into it as well.

What's with all the RGB fiasco? If you get this TT Core P3 case, you gotta show off your rig.

If anything is off by a hair, this is better than that, etc, etc, I wanna know. I don't want to go cheap, but I also don't want to go overboard. Budget, at max, I guess would be around $1,500.

Say your thoughts, or forever hold your noggin. ?

Do you really need 32GB of RAM? Also, why are your GPU aspirations so low? Do you not use your system for gaming?

Do you really need 32Gb of RGB RAM, an RGB PSU, and a $100 case over a good GPU?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

OP already has an SSD. I personally wouldn't do a water cooler but OP did have one in his initial list, so just wanna show that he can get much better for the same price without disregarding anything.

To all above me...

I need the extra memory to run VM's. I am currently at 16GB, and using up about all of my memory doing that.

And I do game, but nothing too heavy. Minecraft, DOTA, CSGO. All on medium settings. My 750Ti can do all that. I don't need all that juice of an RX drive. Heck, I won't gain anything doing it.

I forgot to add, but I have 3x 3TB HDDs. So I am not at a loss for storage.

I'm buying the ThermalTake products, because they work together, don't they? Being that the case will be easily seen, RGB is the must, no?

Then I'd get a better processor, you have a great budget but aren't balancing it well. Look at a processor with a higher core count like the 2700 or 8700/9700/9900k, if you want to stay with the mainstream chips.

I don't think, or see in the near future, that I would need an AMD Ryzen  7 2700 or a ThreadRipper. The gain from that isn't really that much better than the 2600.

I was doing fine on my Intel i5 6400...

I believe this suggestion was made on the fact you said you needed 32 gigs to run vm's.

not sure why you are upgrading then.

At this point it seems like you are just wanting opinions on aesthetics.  If you want a new pc with a bunch of rgb just to have, then do it up.  Choose what you think looks good, because you are the one that is going to be looking at it.

I want to move away from Intel, not an upgrade. I just need a CPU change.

Why the other stuff? Because my case I have right now is too small for that M-ATX board. And I still want this computer operational, just not my daily driver. So that's why I need all these things.

I agree, it's my money. BUT I was asking, is there anything I am overlooking. It's a transition, not an upgrade.
