Ryzen 2200g for Dedicated Stream pc?

K1ng

Title says it does anyone here think a 2200g is adequate for x264 streaming when everything will be captured by a capture card? No discrete video card will be planned to be installed due to the 2200g being an "apu"

Could probably work; but what is your main system?  Internet speeds? Service you plan to stream to? Ect?

i tried but its hard to find info on a dedicated machine. All of what i end up finding is test to see how to game and stream with one. I was thinking it should be plenty due to alot of people using laptops but was not sure it was worth moving forward too much with

Just a bump with new question is will it make a difference on performance if i choose to use an elgato or equivalent capture card or just use NDI?

Any new news on this? Deciding between a 2200g or 2400g for a sff dedicated stream encoder

So a 2200 g will work but if you are using x264 dont expect better than fast encoding with dec quality. Good for slower games like LoL but not as good for faster games like apex. If a 2400g would prob handel med to slow at best but expect medium. If you plan on using a gpu to encode i rec a gtx 1050 at least for best competing quality and skip the cpu to a $50 or less 4core recent athalon or celeron. Dont get anything more than a 1050 as quality within 10 series wont increase and go for 2060 and you will get near x264 med or slightly better even in some case quality.

But if you want my most honest opinion ATM there is only 2 real options at the price considering all am4 boards take all cpu. Thats get a R7 1700 cpu or if you want a 2700 and the cheapest gpu you can find like a $50 hd7700 lol thats just ref cause what i use something just for display only and slight gpu use to relive cpu of in stream effects and video overlay stuff.
OPTION 2 Wait a couple months Ryzen 3 is around the corner and option 1 will be a shiza ton cheaper so you may get a 1700 for under 150 or even a 2700 close. Or even a 3200g or 3400g and it will be better lol. we dont know but we know it odds are will be better, might even be able to replace your main pc and you can use that as your stream pc.

I like option 2 the best i was on the verge of getting a 2600 but i swapped my gaming and main cpu and although a 2600 is good and better for streamilng x264 even for games like apex my hd 7700ghz was still near the same quality and worked fine with just the 2200g. So if that is reference a cheap 4core cpu at around 3.4ghz with an old bottom tier 1gb hd7700 will compete quality wise with a 2600 oc to 4ghz. Yes i could do 1080 with the 2600 and not the amd but the quality degradation for bitrate and fps made 720 a better option overall.

If i were to build a PC today for streaming like i had to TODAY

WHY 8gb not 4gb ddr4? Everyone says 4gb is all you need. YES all you NEED is 4gb but trust me you will enjoy the snappiness of investing $20 more into your rig while ddr4 prices are low. Also Why SSD not HDD. Again i use a HDD and yes it will work but trust me you will like an SSD again testing a spare drive that i didnt want to dedicate to my stream pc i tested it and just in boot time and loading OBS/Slobs/Xsplit it made a HUGE Difference. My Hdd im using now is a 7200rpm seagate barricuda. If you have two fast 7200rpm drive you can do raid 0 but i mean for $20 120gb is plenty i use only about 60-70gb for all my software and then some extra for streaming and other things as i do use the pc for more than just that. If you want to record too a HDD will be more than enough but i will say get a fast one cause a slow cheap 5200 or even 7200 that is old and used may slow down performance even if just recording.

IF I HAD TO BUILD A PC AND COULD WAIT TIL RYZEN 3 IN A FEW MONTHS

I would do it all the same sans the gpu i would buy this prob

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=gtx+950&qid=1553486096&s=electronics&sr=1-2

Or something similar price or less that i can do at least two monitor out with.

As for Cpu i would just change that for either whatever is competetive in price either a 1700-2700 or maybe if the core and speed is worth a 3200 or 3400 as it will all fit in the same board and even though OC will net you gains for streaming i dont rec just cause IMO having a second machine is in part for stability during stream. Maybe a light OC but no need.
