Is this PSU good enough?

jujdicek

Hi guys so I'm upgrading my MB, CPU and my PSU as well. Here are my specs (with the upgraded components)

AMD RYZEN 5 2600X

GIGABYTE AORUS X470 Ultra Gaming

Seasonic M12II-620 Evo (620W)

GTX 960

8GB RAM

Also I'm going to be upgrading the GPU to a GTX 1060 6GB in the future. My question is, is the PSU good enough? Should I spend more money on a better PSU?

edit : the M12II is not part of my current system. I currently have some god-knows what psu

PSU is more that good enough. You are looking at a power usage of about 330W (= about peak efficiency of that PSU).

It's fine, you'll have no issues. Seasonic PSUs are usually quite good quality so expect for the PSU to last a while.

No. It's absolute garbage.

You should really get a better PSU. It doesn't even have to cost more. Though, I recommend trying to get at least a Formula 450W, Focus 450W or TX550M.

Absolute garbage may be an exaggeration.  But there are certainly better options if you can afford them.

That's not a great psu, I'd suggest something else. Cx/cxm grey sticker is usually a cheaper solid unit. If you're willing to pay more seasonic focus, corsair TXM, evga g1+/g2/g3, or corsair rmx/rmi are all solid options.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Absolute garbage by my definition. IE, lacking protections, being group regulated, and being significantly louder than even many budget PSUs.

Can you guys read? He has a Seasonic M12II 620W. Stop recommending your BS CX series. His PSU is more than good enough.

If they're buying a new PSU and they're considering the M12 II, then it's most definitely garbage, and much much worse than the CX/M.

I was reading this as though the op already owned the seasonic?  If they were thinking of purchasing one there are way better options.  If they already own it, I would highly recommend an upgrade, but they could get by with what they have.

I take that as the M12 II being the potential upgrade.

Nah, it’s old, poor voltage regulation, inexistent protections, and overpriced.

The Corsair CX550 can be found for a similar price and way better quality.

Stop assuming it's good quality just because it's seasonic

must brands also sell garbage, including seasonic

well it has only very basic protection, it's group regulated and very loud. They have reasons to say it's garbage
