should i get an Echo Dot?

hey so an “all new echo dot” is going for $30 on Amazon, does anyone have one? is it any good? i mostly want it to play music when i am cleaning and ask it questions.. should i get it? i was gonna get the $20 but it is 2nd gen and i want something newer.. apparently i can ask it questions that could also help with homework and play music without having to grab my phone, find a new song, and play it

 

is it worth it? does anyone who have one like it?

Got an echo dot for free from a workplace raffle a few months ago. Used it for like a few days then the novelty wore off. It's been sitting in a cabinet somewhere collecting dust ever since.

 

None of those smart home thingies are worth it IMO.

well considering i just want it cuz its on sale, it can help me with homework, and it has “a great speaker” i guess i will get it

Get a cheap blue tooth speaker, the quality will be much better, and you can better control what music plays. The dot does not have a “great speaker”. Maybe you can say the spot does, but my JBL Charge 3 is way better than a full size Echo, first or second gen (my parents have both).

im pretty sure that is controlling what plays.. and the whole point is so i dont have to stop what i am doing (i.e. if i am playing pubg mobile i do not have to open spotify and change my song)

Yup they aren't worth anything. If anything it makes society lazier, but I do see the need for them. Like for example, old people, or people who can not type that sort of thing. In other respects too it would be good to hear the weather outside while your showering.

Textbooks and googling on my laptop were also of great help for homework when I was in uni.

We have 3 dots and that smart light system from IKEA and some smart time controlled switches for our Terrariums. It comes easy to use but we dont ask many questions to that bot.

 

its just an advanced light clapper for us or make some cosy light for cosy Situations.

The list is endless as to whom would by an Echo

I would buy one just for the weather aspect while I am getting my winter gear on.
