I've tried whitelisting specific IPs too. The client refuses to accept it.

just a tip btw if you can't see the web viewer try opening incongtico mode in chrome or other browser and typing in

If I don't reply it's probly because I am in a different time zone or haven't seen your message yet but I will reply when I see it ?

@HaRdLy007 can you post your remote config from /etc/fahclient/config.xml file from the Linux Box.

It should look like this:

 <!-- HTTP Server -->
  <allow v='127.0.0.1 192.168.1.0/24'/>

  <!-- Remote Command Server -->
  <command-allow-no-pass v='127.0.0.1 192.168.1.0/24'/>

That looks correct. have you restarted the FAHclient

service FAHClient restart

so it will read the new config?

and your home network is 192.168.1.0/24?

Have you tried using PuTTY or another Telnet client to connect to the Linux box on port 36330?

telnet 192.168.1.X 36330

should give you:

Welcome to the Folding@home Client command server.                                                                                                                        >

The output will be mangled on the Microsoft TELNET client but will still show if you can open that port

Yes network is 192.168.1.0/24. I've tried to telnet to 192.168.1.13 and it times out.

Ahh OK. So it looks like it could be something on the Linux Side then.

On the Linux Box can you confirm the FAHClient is running?

Is the Proxy part really needed, as the 3 windows machine don't have that in their config files and I have no problem connecting to them with telnet/hfm/control

"Connection Refused" means that there is either a firewall enabled on the Linux Box or the service is not running.

Try netstat on the Linux Box to see if the service is listening

netstat -anp | grep 36330

"Connection Refused" means that there is either a firewall enabled on the Linux Box or the service is not running.

Try netstat on the Linux Box to see if the service is listening

netstat -anp | grep 36330

Ahh - OK. I mis read your previous post and thought you were trying the telnet from the windows system and not the TestBench.

So we know the FAHClient is up and running on the Linux system and should accept connections from your local network.

What happens when you try

telnet 192.168.1.13 36330

from a command prompt on the windows system

times out rather than connection refused? A Time out indicates it can't reach the system. Curious as you can ping it so we know you have network connectivity.

Is it possible you have an IP address conflict and another system on the network has the same IP?

I'm assuming the windows system is on the same network?

Have you tried rebooting the linux system?

Yeah, I've noticed that sometimes stopping the FAHClient service doesn't actually stop it so it won't reload but a reboot will force it to stop.

Does it have a Firewall installed?

Did you select the minimal configuration on install or just the defaults?
