How to get into 5ghz wifi

Hi, I want to upgrade my wifi to 5ghz but I have no idea how to get into it! Do I need to get an new router that support 5ghz? Is my PC supporting it ? I mainly want it to stream my PC game to my pc, btw my PC is connected to wifi not ethernet.

You need a router that supports wifi 801.22ac, and a network card that supports that speed too. They are not that expensive to get. Do you have a budget for your upgrade?

5ghz wifi requires router and WiFi module on PC's support, so maybe you need new router and mobo, maybe you don't.

If you have any newer Apple devices they will support 5g wifi.

A long time LTT viewer that signed up “7 minutes ago”.

Both the router and WiFi card have to support 5 Ghz to work. So if your current router doesn't support 5Ghz then you will have to replace the router OR purchase a wireless AP that can take place of the Wireless AP thats builit in to the Home Hub 1000. 

 

Also keep in mind the WiFi card you linked it like an Wireless N900 card, meaning it cant go the speeds that AC could achieve. Thought its not a bad WiFi card, I used to use this in my gaming rig before I got a wired connection, my mom currently uses this in your computer. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
