Do I have to download my monitor driver to get 144hz?

torokszabolcs224

I currently use XL2411, but I only have 60hz on 1920x1080 and 120 on lower res, do I need to use the monitor's CD to get 144hz?

No, monitors don't need drivers. You have to be connected with DVI to get more than 60 Hz at 1080p on that monitor.

not exactly true, i had to download a thing from AOC to allow wider freesync range

MSI GX660 + i7 920XM @ 2.8GHz + GTX 970M + Samsung SSD 830 256GB

Well, they can have drivers, for things like that or for color/brightness control through PC or whatever, but I meant they shouldn't need drivers to enable normal operation.

Thanks for the replys! I got a DVI cable, but I only have 60+hz options on lower res for example 1600x900 120hz, but on 1920x1080 only 60hz

It needs to be a straight DVI-to-DVI connection, or else you need a specialized DP to DL-DVI active adapter. Normal adapters will not work.

I tried with dual link dvi-d cable, it still doesn't work

Are you using integrated graphics? Motherboard DVI ports typically don't support Dual-Link.

If you're using an NVIDIA graphics card and are trying to set refresh rate from the NVIDIA control panel, make sure you select from the PC section of the resolution list.
