SmArT phone trend, Regret much?

fos1x

Modern smartphone: Slim out the Bezel, Cut a Notch:

ME: can we have a Smaller phone now?
Modern smartphone: Yes! 156mm* 6inch phone!!
ME: ... that isn't small!
Oppo: hold my beer, 15mm* 6.4 inch phone!! so small!
ME: THAT ISN'T SMALL!
- yeah, a slimmer bezel doesn't mean your smartphone will get smaller and compact easy for 1 handed use! my personal opinion... that suck very much! I still want all the pro's of a modern smartphone like better battery optimization wireless charge, Bluetooth 5, USB-type C slim bezel, Etc... I almost drop a 4.7-inch iPhone because I try to reach the top left corner with my right-hand thumb, let alone a 6inch phone (btw I prefer android phone).0
- who have bought a so-called modern phone a big-ass screen recently, thinking about how slick it would be when you holding it, and then regret because it's too big and you do not really need it!
hey, do a Straw poll! https://www.strawpoll.me/15931343
- what do you think the next modern Smartphone trend go? when will it start to getting smaller again? or will it ever happen?
(btw sony xz2 compact is over price without a jack or wireless charge so don't recommend that crap to me)

I'm fine with the size, but I want a phone with all the features of a Galaxy S8/9, but with a plastic back instead of the glass.

It just brakes to easily.

all these company making glass back just for the consumer mentality of slick and stylish, but does nothing but making it easy to break! all these people still defend it cause it enables wireless charge but they forget about the existent of plastic and ceramic!

sony xz2 compact

Didn't know about that one. Looks like its sreen is 5". I wouldn't call that compact. I have two Sony Xperia Z3 Compact which have 4.6" screens and I like it. Well on both of the phones the screens aren't held in place properly so there is a gap between the sreen and the phone itself. These phones aren't waterproof anymore and the speakers work only when I'm pressing the sreen down, but I'll continue using them since there are no new phones of this size. One of the phones I use as a backup. The main one's battery can last a week easily.

4" to 4.5" is an ideal size for me.
Some will say "once you go big you never go back", but I beg to differ, my current phone is exactly 5" and I still think it's too big. Takes too much space in my pockets, it's uncomfortable while I walk or sit depending on its orientation, can't even use it easily with a single hand (we don't all have massive hands, while holding my 5" phone, my thumb is barely reaching half of the screen.).

I could watch movies comfortably on a 4" screen without any issues, it's not that extra inch that suddenly makes it a much better experience.

LG G6 is 148.9 x 71.9 mm with a 5.7" 18:9 screen

The US model has wireless charging and about everything you want?

I mean I prefer a smaller phone, LG g6 is 5.7 inch I want at least as small as 4.7 inches = ~120x54 mm
thickness is not a problem!

- you are right i have the Samsung S3 mini at 4 inches (it has broken down), it really comfy on my hand, tho it's a bit hard to type so half an inch bigger won't hurt
- yeah, you can totally go back! I have an 8-inch tablet, I never feel a thing when I hold on a small phone

You seem to be mixing up screen size with phone size. The new phone designs that have more screen and less bezels, allow the screen to be of larger dimensions while keeping the device at the same size. So stop judging phone size by the screen inch dimensions. It doesn't work anymore. Yes maybe you want something even smaller than the G6, but phones getting larger in general is a benefit to the consumer as it allows bigger batteries and better performing components.

I personally wish they would make an updated all-screen version of the S4. It is the best one hand phone I ever felt in my hands. But at the prices we are getting charged these days, I am looking to have more material in my hands. Good luck with your little crusade for small phones.

the problem is IN MY POINT OF VIEW a phone dimension that reaches 150mm is too big
- you slim down the bezel? good! but you don't up the screen size!
- for example 2017 5.5 inch phone with big bezel = ~150mm long, good 2018 i want the same screen size which is 5.5 but with smaller bezel which might be reduced to 140mm long
- BUT NO every goddam company don't reduce the size of the phone when they got slimmed the bezel down, they up the size of the screen so the phone size stay the same
-Consumer: hey! SAME "size" as my old phone but with a BIGGER "screen"? yay!
- company: marketing jackpot!
- me: I want SMALLER "size" with the SAME "screen"
- Company: that doesn't appeal to a majority of the customer so nay!
