Need some help that I couldn't really find online

WhatComesAround

Hello there everyone,

I have been searching the internet for a while now but couldn't find an answer to a couple of questions I have or maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. But I hope someone on here could help me out. So, this is sort of off topic but on topic as well, my question concerns PC fans and a PWM controller but not for your typical PC application. To keep things short, I race RC touring cars (check them out, they are pretty darn cool) but the pits are pretty hot and most people have fans. But the fans they have are pretty overpriced and have the CFM per dollar is ridiculous. So I searched this online shopping website we here in Malaysia use a lot and found a delta fan for around $10 that boasts a 252 CFM. So I thought to myself, I know this thing will be ultra loud and windy at full speed, but if I can use a PWM controller to vary the speed I will have a fan with an insane max CFM for all my potential needs. By the way I use a PC PSU for my charger so that's what I will use to power the fan. So I started looking for a PWM controller and found a few but I just don't get how I would use it. The one's I have found for sale don't have 4 pin headers, or maybe they do but it's not labeled very well. So I will leave a link to the fan, and a few PWM controllers I managed to find for sale. I would like to ask for some guidance from anyone who is knowledgeable on this topic. Can I use these controllers? What goes where? What do I look for if those PWM modules are not suitable?

None of those really are PWM controllers. They are DC controllers with knob. Technically you could as well get actual PC controller which would have molex or SATA power input and 4 3pin fan headers. Except these will definitely be capable to power Delta fans with 5A output.

PC fans overall are better at cooling closed or semi-closed boxes (aka PC cases). For large and open areas you would look at fans with wider diameter. Or maybe some smaller portable AC.

Yea that was my concern, most of the PWM controllers for pcs are definitely not able to supply 4A. Highest I have seen I believe is like 2A. I was also thinking of maybe using a voltage regulator? But the problem with those is that they aren't as efficient since they don't just turn the motor on and off rapidly. But maybe I'll go for it because where I race my RC touring car there's free electricity, but me being the overly conservative guy I am, I would still like to save some power. Especially since I'm at the track for 6 hours and that fan takes 48W (Half of what my charger takes LOL).

How about this one?

Seems right to me. :D

But I think 5A could be cutting it too close.

That one looks more like it would work.
