I'm guessing your Headphone/Mic headphone jack doesnt support mic only. Try getting a splitter for headphone/Mic before throwing spam accusations

The laptop clearly shows "MIC/HEADSET"

Your laptop thinks the Mic is headphones only. It looks like an error with your laptop's connection, not the mic itself. Have you tried updating the audio drivers for your laptop?

Figure out if your audio connector is the kind with 4 terminals  or just plain stereo jack connector that can be either speakers or microphone but not both at same time.

If the audio connector on your laptop is the 4 terminal connector kind, then buy a cable with a 4 terminal jack to 2 separate stereo jacks and you can then connect a microphone and speakers at same time.

If it's just the regular stereo jack, then either settle for speakers OR microphone or buy a decent usb sound card (not the 3-5$ ones that are barely usable) and connect your microphone through the usb sound card and leave the stereo jack for speakers.

this.

if you got a single headphone/mic combo jack, you need a splitter because the contact points on the combo jack don't match the mic plug and the laptop is usually configured to mute the speakers as soon as it detects ANYTHING plugged into that jack because it assumes that whatever has been plugged in to be a headphone or headset type.
