Gtx 980ti vs 1070 for gaming?????

Jaok

They are essentially equal in performance, so whichever is cheaper.

Which one  should I get?

They're extremely similar. The 980ti will consume more power; but go with the one that you can get for cheaper (probably the 980ti). Just make sure you do your homework about buying used components, especially GPU's

Hmm apparently some of the 980ti's overclock amazingly well, to within 1080 range (according to some 1080 release benchmarks on YouTube) so I would be tempted by the 980ti

Assuming his power supply can handle it. It's probably fine, but if I recall correctly, the 980 Ti does require more power.

980Ti draws 250W, 1070 draws 150W.

One could get away with either card running at least a 500W unit.

i used to have a GTX 980ti strix and i was using a XFX XTR 550W Gold powersupply and when i was playing a game that was demanding on both the CPU and GPU (battlefield 1 multiplayer in this case) after about 10 or 15 minutes the powersupply fan would ramp up to max and it would be screaming...problem was solved by upgrading to a EVGA 750W G2...so NO i would absolutely not recommend a 980ti to be plugged into anything less than a good quality 650W unit or better. Even though it does work on a lower unit, it's pushing it.

Same price? 1070 is better.

It consumes 100 watt less for similar performance (Which also means, less Watt = less heat = less to cool = lower noise)

it has 8gb Vram instead of only 6gb,

it has a newer achitecture --> will be beter optimized for future Games (in some cases).

Only 1 reason exist to chose a 980 ti over a 1070: You get it significantly cheaper.

If you get lucky with a chip that OCs well then the 980ti will perform better but it really isn’t shy of power usage. I would go 1070 unless you can get the 980ti a good bit cheaper. The 6gb VRAM shouldn’t be an issue for a long time

That's an F in the profile pic
