look on ebay (where i get almost everything) for a refurb or used in good condition i3/i7/i5 (quad core if possible)

 

and if you are gaming maybe a dedicated gpu

 

atleast 4 gb of ram for school work

chromebook is what u need for the stuff you're describing i wouldnt pay over $300 for one though. theres also a lot of good thinkpads on ebay like the t420s x230 etc that have great spec for cheap i would recommend getting a new and big battery for them though throw an ssd in there as well must have

@AniJan If it's for web browsing and note taking, I'd say get the Acer Swift 1 with a pentium n4200, or wait for the gemini lake refresh. The Asus e403na isn't bad either, but its chassis isn't fully metallic, and it's 14" instead of 13. If you're not afraid of chinese companies, the Teclast F7 is a pretty good option for light tasks as well, and it's even cheaper. Unless your high school has wall outlets everywhere, I think you should stay away from powerful used hardware, since a lot of older laptops will not last through an entire day of class.
