3x120 or 2x140 for new meshify c build

HBM

Just a quick question regard a new build im doing.

Will be in a Meshify C case but it takes either 3x120 at the front or 2x140 and im really not sure which way to go if say i was using non rgb fans.

Obviously 3x120mm will gives you more airflow and on top of that most aftermarket fan is quiet already even cheap fans like be quiet pure wings 2 (at 100% though they are audible)

Non RGB fan? Be quiet silent wings 2 or those fans from noctua.

3x120mm front and 1x140mm for the exhaust at the back or add another 2x120mm at the top.

Thanks I was thinking  the 3 x 120 would be better but things change and i havent done a new case build in 5 years.

Go with 2 140mm fans, 3 120mm fans require removing part of the PSU shroud and leave you blowing air into a closed chamber, 140mm fans give you a much better appearance.

ahhh just been checking the case and it seems it will only take a 120 rear exhaust fan, and also would have to remove the drive cage to fit 3x120mm fans so looks like it will have to be 2x140 front.

I can also add either 2x120 or 2x140 top so think ill invest invest in some 140 noctura fans

What hdd's?

Any reason you're not just sticking with the included stock fans?

I have 3tb seagate and a 1 tb wd green. There are only 2 fans in the case and 2 of my old case fans have already died so was thinking of replacing all the fans.

The ones in included in the meshify are 120mm Fractal Dynamic X2 GP 12.

So with ones included and my old case fans i only have 4 working fans, 3 x 120 and 1 140.

Why replace all the fans? Are you not satisfied with the stock ones? --they're pretty good.

The old fans are the stock ones from my r3 refine and as i say most are dying or dead so was going to replace the fans but got the new case for christmas.

I would rather not run with just 2 120mm fans one front and one back so was looking to up all the fans but im going to use the 2 included fans up top of the case and replace the front intake with 2 140mm and the back 120mm fan.

Are the GP-12 X2's included with the Meshify C unsatisfactory? --they're decent fans already. If that's the case, how so? Are they too loud or don't perform well enough?

Im not sure my past experience with 120mm fans is they were always quite noisey compared to 140mm even with a decent fan curve. Ive not used the GP-12 fans yet but felt I could use them as exhaust fans at a lower rpm and have 2 140mm fan as intake fans at front

That's what I'd suggest unless you're rather picky about noise. 120mm's can get much quieter than 140mm's and you can't can't accurately generalize when there are so many options to choose from. 140mm's would make sense in this case since your hdd's aren't particularly power hungry and most of what you'll need active cooling for is above the basement.

Depending on how much you'd want to spend, some good options include:

Thanks for the heads up although i dont like the colours of the noctua fans Ive heard so many good recommendations from friends and the internet ill prob put in the extra cash and grab those.

On another just wondering would recommend a fan controller or maybe a couple of adapters? I was using a fan controller in my old case as my current board only has 2 fan headers and the cpu fan header

What motherboard do you have?

You could power the rear exhaust fan off of the sys_fan2 header to react to cpu or system temps and the rest off of your controller.

Thanks that sounds good, had in my mid to run them all off the controller but that's a much better idea.
