AORUS Graphics Engine problems

Noyu

before anything else I have a Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8G and I've been using (or I guess trying to use) ver 1.26 of the AORUS Engine.

omfg this software is so badly implemented.

I've been getting locked clocks (300Mhz) and VRAM not getting flushed with this app on the background.

sidenote: I've been tracking this using AMD Link which is an amazing app, albeit lacking some basic functionalities.

I think the AORUS crap is just not working well with the drivers.

So I've decided to uninstall it (at least temporarily) until I can find out how to make it work bettter.

  1. So without the app, I can't set a custom fan curve. From what I see, the card operates fanless up to a certain point (around 50degC?). But I'm not entirely sure if this was left by the app when I uninstalled it, or it's the default of the card.
  2. As listed in the spec page, this card should be overclocked easily to 1355MHz, do they mean that as 1355MHz at stock voltages? Or do they have a custom voltage set for that 1355?
  3. Is there some OTHER way I can turn off RGB? Without the app the RGB is just static white. Which does not go with the whole sleek/stealthy peg of my build.

I only use the Aorus Gaming engine for adjusting the RGB. My fan curve was set with Afterburner.

Yeah, the Aorus software is dogshit. Don't know if it's the case for AMD cards, but on my Aorus 1080Ti I can set the RGB values in the app (including off), uninstall the software completely and the values stay put. I presume it has some kind of onboard memory to operate this, not sure if all Aorus cards are this way you'll have to try it.

setting fan curves? no problem, you can use msi afterburner! but for the rgb i guess you have to use the app.
