The design is getting uglier IMO, whats with the car radiator look.

It seems a lot of them "gaming" laptop is staring to have that look. But beauty in the eye of the beholder.

The new one doesn't make any sense.

Why would they make a product that would compete with their own other products that feature 1060 6gbs?  It makes NO sense, unless its a Max-Q 1060.

EDIT-Upon further research I have come to the conclusion that it is the Max-Q 1060.

Old one is up to GTX1050Ti. New one has GTX 1060 Max Q or not, it's still better than GTX 1050Ti. Also the more important bit is the addition of Thunderbolt 3 and the 2x2 wifi, where the old model is just 1x1.

I'd say the Acer Predator Helios 300 on Amazon is a great deal compared to this (if you don't care about the ThunderBolt 3 ofc) cuz for an extra $50 from the base model, u get non Max-Q 1060, double the RAM and an i7-7700HQ with about the same weight. What I'm wondering tho, why did they shrink the battery to 56Wh? I liked their previous Dell Inspiron 7567 gaming cuz of their beefy 74Wh battery.

It also has a smaller battery.  The larger battery is one of the things I liked about the old one, and it is my favorite feature of my Alienware.

It's kinda reminiscent of the old XPS gaming/compensation towers, actually.

Personally i like the design but i have a big doubt on the 1060 max q capacity.... is it considered "vr ready" ? can it work fine with the htc vive ?

This officially makes anyone with a 980M completely useless when it comes to reselling. Kinda sad really.

I was okay with a 980M going for $1000, but even that was a hell of a reselling hit, even for a top-end laptop that's unlocked and whatnot... now? Almost pointless to sell it unless you have money to put toward a new machine.

It's always hard when the new generation's mid-range GPU is faster than the previous gen's top one.
