eBay - how safe is it?

So I've been selling stuff on ebay recently and I've noticed people aren't really too worried about scam.. I had 0 feedback and people would just buy stuff.. up to 50 dlrs.. so I was wondering what would happen if they got scammed? For example if I took the money, but not ship the item? Would eBay pay them back out of their own pocket?

 

No, I'm not looking to scam anyone. I'm just really surprised how people aren't worried about being scammed.

When buyer send the money, the money will be held by ebay so u cant keep the money unless the transaction is complete and both side are satisfied.

Meaning the Goods is arrived and Buyers confirmed it.

You're correct. The money is held until mostly the shipping and receiving date of the product. after putting in the shipping info and tracking.

Good feedback will make the money release faster.

eBay and Paypal give a lot of protections to buyers to the point that sellers often get scammed.

Its muuuuuuuuuch safer for the buyer than the seller on eBay. Their buyer protection is very biased. You can claim you never received something or that it was wrong/broken and you get your money back. I've had it happen which is why I don't sell on eBay anymore. I buy on eBay though, far safer. If I sell I use gumtree because cash is secure they can't take it back  and no selling fees.

How is that? I receive my money as soon as someone purchases my item, and I can use it on anything I want instantly.. I can either withdraw it, or use it to buy something on the internet.. I didn't get any messages that I must wait until buyer is satisfied.

Nah I won't be doing too much on ebay.. Just sold a few things I had and bought a case for my new phone, that is pretty much it.. I was just surprised with the instant payments, since I heard it almost impossible to get scammed on ebay.

If you're a buyer, that's true. If you're a seller, getting scammed is a very real possibility.
