formatting computer questions

I have been trying to mine ethereum, but my computer is giving me 3 mh so i have tried different drivers and i cant get them to work so i have decided to format my computer. The only issue is i have a lot of programs like simplify 3d printer settings that i dont want to lose. Is there any way i can move all my important files to another hard drive? is there any risks or drawbacks. also anyway to fix my mining issues would be cool too.

You should be able to copy your files to another hard drive without any problems. You can do something like copying them to a flash drive and then moving them back onto  your drive after you format.

Your files will transfer. Your programs will not if they are not portable applications.

If you're going to format and reinstall Windows. Not really.
