So my question is, should i upgrade my PSU since the wattage doesnt get past 450? And why do people get like 1200watt PSUs or even 750, I find the upgrade build pretty capable and i see people with weaker builds using stronger PSUs.

Thank you for your time :)

you dont need more wattage, unless you want to be in the efficencly peak range of the PSU.

750W PSUs are for people running dual card setups

1200W is for LN2 overclockers, extreme watercooling setups and so on. tripple R9 Furys or 980TIs can even trip a 1600W PSU when overclocked

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I think its better to go for a 500W or 550W PSU. Just for more headroom.
