Wait... is the 780ti a supported card for Shadow Play to begin with? I thought it was Maxwell and on feature.

ShadowPlay has existed since long before Maxwell was even released. It's supported on 600 series cards and above (650 Ti Boost and higher).

If CPU is too slow (or it doesn't have enough time to take care of shadowplay), you will see that sign.
Check CPU Usage and/or lower your quality settings.

PS. Try different HDD for temp file.

Ohh that must be it then, I had a GTX 560ti which I used all the way to Maxwell when I first had experience with it and I end up with this remembrance it was a Maxwell featured, suppose our minds really foals us time to time lol.

Check to make sure the directories ShadowPlay is set to record to exist, or if they're set at all. If the drive get unmounted or the directory moves/gets deleted, ShadowPlay will sometimes just blank out the set record directories, so there's none set. I had that issue before when an external drive I used for ShadowPlay recordings disconnected every time the power went out.

i mean, i've rendered stuff on AE on BG, played R6 on borderless and still ended up recording using the shadow record feature that saves the last 5 mins, so i dont think my CPU is the issue here.

Try that as well, yes. The only time I've seen the red line through the ShadowPlay icon is when there was an issue with directories.

It may be worth checking if the shortcuts for ShadowPlay are still set. If neither of those work, try resetting ShadowPlay settings to default.

Only thing I can think to do after that is to do a clean install of your GPU drivers and Geforce Experience.

I have seen some people saying a miss-match between Twitch passwords can cause it, so if you have that set-up, change the Twitch password and update it in Shadowplay

clean installation also didnt work, but i haven't even logged in using twitch, should that really matter? it was working fine few days ago, my HDD got full or something and got that red slash and it has stayed that way, also creators update to be blamed i guess.
