Can't Reach Maximum RAM Speeds!

Hi all, I am having a problem with my newest build, I have a RYZEN 1700 CPU paired with Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz RAM, but I am having a problem getting my RAM to 3200MHz. Currently I have it clocked at 2933 and if I go any higher the system will poop out as soon as I apply it causing me to pull out the trusty CMOS reset pin! Is there a reason why it's doing this? Thanks for the help! This would be a waste of money if I can't max it out! But I'll still keep it of course!

Full Specs:

AMD RYZEN 7 1700

Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz Ram

Nvidia GTX 1070 FTW

Corsair CX750M (oops)

Everything else is Corsair! Except for a Dell Monitor!

update your bios, if you already have the newest, wait for further bios updates.  This is a known issue.

you might want to wait for bios updates because amd pushed ryzen 7 out prematurely (the motherboard manufacterer couldn't make everything perfect first )

And of course considering I have an entry level mobo it probably wont be for like 2 months!

ram speeds don't matter too much but you're still going to see performance increase with bios updates

But ryzen has all that weird L2, L3, and L1 cache configs so I thought I might want to upgrade!

it's 400mhz of "preformance"

best preformance isn't 2933mhz vs 3200mhz

go oc and tune your chip to the best preformance rather than worry about small things!

they definitly help with infinity fabric bandwidth which can improve gaming performance more than it normally would.

Funny you say that! I just got a new case on sunday! My old case was some piece of thermaltake tin! But if you really want me to I can right now, but please dont let the dangling water cooler hurt your eyes! I gotta wait for a bracket to come out for my corsair cooler! I forgot what its called!

yes.

This is an ongoing issue (to be expected with a new platform) and something I have researched quite heavily the last day or so.

Theres a couple of factors that affect the overclocking of ram on Ryzen (outside the normal board component quality) that we haven't see for a while due to maturity of other intel and AMD platforms

1) Only 4 board currently support BCLK adjustments currently (upping the FSB to increase both CPU and ram speeds) - AsRock Taichi, Gigabyte Gaming K5 and K7 (Not Aorus!) and Asus Crosshair 6.

2) The fun part - Ryzen doesn't like Hynix ram dims - if you aren't aware, ram companies buy their chips from manufacturers, Samsung, Hynix and Micron are the most popular. Ryzen wants Samsung B die dims which seem to be pretty much exclusive to 3200mhz CAS 14 and 3600mhz CAS 16. They also need to be single sided and 16gb sticks should be avoided

Ryzen Ram Guide

My Project Logs   Iced Blood    Temporal Snow    Temporal Snow Ryzen Refresh

CPU - Ryzen 1700 @ 4Ghz  Motherboard - Gigabyte AX370 Aorus Gaming 5   Ram - 16Gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3200  GPU - Palit 1080GTX Gamerock Premium  Storage - Samsung XP941 256GB, Crucial MX300 525GB, Seagate Barracuda 1TB   PSU - Fractal Design Newton R3 1000W  Case - INWIN 303 White Display - Asus PG278Q Gsync 144hz 1440P
