Copper Base Plate Discolored

Its pretty normal, a lot of thermal pastes will stain a block.  As long as it is still smooth and doesn't look terrible I wouldn't worry about it.

 

Clean it the best you can with high percentage rubbing alcohol and call it good imo.  I wouldn't put polish on my cpu block personally

Fellow Techies,

I am selling my Corsair AIO cooler. However, the copper base is discolored. I will post a picture if need be. How can I get that new-ish shine back on it?

Instructions for frustration management:  

1) Sit at desk.   2) Repeatedly slam forehead against desk.

Copper tarnishes over time.  IDK if that affects performance or not :/  maybe copper Polish (yes thats a thing)  but that will leave material behind and most likely affect thermal paste performance.  You could try lapping the tarnish away.

Copper polish will take care of it (I am almost certain of it), but I have to agree with you that it might affect performance. It isn't a big deal but I thought I would get it nice looking for the buyer.
